Psalm 98

1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; * for he hath done | 3 marvellous | things. ||
2 With his own right hand, and with his holy arm, hath he | 3 gotten him- | self the | victor•y. ||
2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
3 The Lord de- | clared • his sal- | vation; ||
his righteousness hath he openly | showed • in the | sight • of the | heathen. ||
4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
4 He hath remembered his mercy and truth toward the | house of | Isra•el; ||
and all the ends of the world have | 3 seen the sal- | vation • of our | God. ||
5 Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.
† 5 Show yourselves | joyful • unto the | Lord, ||
all ye | lands; * sing, re- | 3 joice, and give | thanks. ||
6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.
6 Praise the | Lord up•on the | harp; ||
sing to the | harp • with a | psalm of | thanks•giving. ||
7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
7 With trumpets | 3 also and | shawms, ||
O show yourselves | joyful be•fore the | Lord, the | King. ||
8 Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together
8 Let the sea make a noise, and all that | therein | is; ||
the round | world, and | they that | dwell there•in. ||
9 Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.
9 Let the | floods • clap their | hands, ||
and let the hills be joyful to- | 3 gether be- | fore the | Lord; ||
for he is come to | judge the | earth. ||
10 With righteousness shall he judge the | world, • and the | 3 peoples with | equi•ty. ||

About the Pointing

The text of the Coverdale Psalter follows the 1928 American Book of Common Prayer. The pointing, suitably adapted, is taken from Charles Macpherson, Edward C. Bairstow, and Percy C. Buck, The English Psalter (Novello & Co., 1925).
