Psalm 27
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; * whom 3 then | shall I | fear? ||
the Lord is the strength of my life; * of whom 3 then | shall I | be a- | fraid? ||
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
† 2 When the wicked, even mine | enemies • and my | foes, ||
came upon me to eat up my | flesh, * they | stumbled • and | fell. ||
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
3 Though an host of men were laid against me, * yet shall not my | heart • be a- | fraid; ||
and though there rose up war against me, * | 3 yet will I | put my | trust in • him. ||
4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, which 3 I | will re- | quire; ||
even that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, * to behold the fair beauty of the | Lord, • and to | visit • his | temple. ||
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall | hide me • in his | taber•nacle; ||
yea, in the secret place of his dwelling shall he hide me, * and set me | up up•on a | rock of | stone. ||
6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
6 And now shall he 3 lift | up mine | head ||
above mine | ene•mies | round a- | bout me. ||
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
7 Therefore will I offer in his dwelling an ob- | lation, with • great | gladness: ||
I will sing and speak | praises | 3 unto the | Lord. ||
8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
8 Hearken unto my voice, O | Lord, • when I | cry un•to thee; ||
have | 3 mercy up- | on me, • and | hear me. ||
9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
9 My heart hath talked of thee, | 3 Seek ye my | face: ||
Thy | face, Lord, | will I | seek. ||
10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
10 O hide not | thou thy | face • from me, ||
nor cast thy | 3 servant a- | way • in dis- | pleasure. ||
11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
11 3 Thou hast | been my | succour; ||
leave me not, neither for- | 3 sake me, O | God of • my sal- | vation. ||
12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
12 When my father and my | 3 mother for- | sake me, ||
the | Lord | 3 taketh me | up. ||
13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
13 Teach me thy | way, O | Lord, ||
and lead me in the right | way, be- | 3 cause of mine | ene•mies. ||
14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
14 Deliver me not over into the | 3 will of mine | adver•saries: ||
for there are false witnesses risen up a- | gainst • me, and | such as • speak | wrong. ||
15 I should | utter•ly have | fainted, ||
but that I believe verily to see the goodness of the | Lord • in the | land • of the | living. ||
16 O tarry thou the Lord's leisure; * be strong, and he shall | 3 comfort thine | heart; ||
and | 3 put thou thy | trust • in the | Lord. ||
