Psalm 90
1 Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
1 Lord, | thou hast • been our | refuge, ||
from | one • gene- | ration • to an- | other. ||
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, * or ever the earth and the | world were | made, ||
thou art God from ever- | 3 lasting, and | world with•out | end. ||
3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
3 Thou turnest | man • to de- | struction; ||
again thou sayest, Come a- | gain, ye | 3 children of | men. ||
4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as | yesterday • when it is | past, ||
3 and | as a | watch • in the | night. ||
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
5 As soon as thou scatterest them they are | even • as a | sleep; ||
and fade away | sudden•ly | like the | grass. ||
6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
6 In the morning it is | green, and • groweth | up; ||
but in the evening it is cut | down, dried | up, and | withered. ||
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
7 For we consume a- | way in • thy dis- | pleasure, ||
and are a- | fraid • at thy | wrathful • indig- | nation. ||
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.
8 Thou hast set our mis- | deeds be- | fore thee; ||
and our secret | sins • in the | 3 light of thy | counte•nance. ||
9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.
9 For when thou art angry | all our • days are | gone: ||
we bring our years to an end, | as it • were a | tale • that is | told. ||
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
10 The days of our age are threescore | years and | ten; ||
and though men be so | strong • that they | come to | fourscore • years, ||
yet is their strength then but | 3 labour and | sorrow; ||
so soon | passeth • it a- | way, and • we are | gone. ||
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
11 But who regardeth the | power • of thy | wrath? ||
or feareth a- | right thy | indig- | nation? ||
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
12 So teach us to | 3 number our | days, ||
that we may ap- | ply our | hearts • unto | wisdom. ||
13 Return, O Lord, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
13 Turn thee again, O | Lord, • at the | last, ||
and be | gracious | 3 unto thy | servants. ||
14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
14 O satisfy us with thy | mercy, and • that | soon: ||
so shall we rejoice and be | glad • all the | 3 days of our | life. ||
15 Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.
15 Comfort us again now after the | time that • thou hast | plagued us; ||
and for the years where- | in • we have | 3 suffered ad- | versi•ty. ||
16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.
16 Show thy servants thy work, and their | 3 children thy | glory. ||
17 And the glorious majesty of the | Lord our | God • be up- | on us: ||
prosper thou the | 3 work of our | hands up•on us; ||
O | prosper | thou our | handy•work. ||
17 And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
