Psalm 4

1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
1 Hear me when I call, O | 3 God of my | righteous•ness: ||
thou hast set me at liberty when I was in trouble; * have mercy upon me, and | hearken | 3 unto my | prayer. ||
2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye blas- | pheme mine | honour, ||
and have such pleasure in | vani•ty, and | seek • after | falsehood? ||
3 But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.
3 Know this also, that the Lord hath chosen to himself the | man • that is | godly; ||
when I | call up•on the | Lord • he will | hear me. ||
4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
4 Stand in | awe, and | sin not; ||
commune with your own heart, and in your | chamber, | and be | still. ||
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
5 Offer the | sacri•fice of | righteous•ness, ||
and | put your | trust • in the | Lord. ||
6 There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
6 There be many that say, Who will | show us • any | good? ||
7 Lord, lift thou up the | 3 light of thy | counte•nance up- | on us. ||
7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
8 Thou hast put | gladness • in my | heart; ||
yea, more than when their | corn and • wine and | oil • in- | crease. ||
9 I will lay me down in | peace, and • take my | rest; ||
for it is thou, Lord, only, that | 3 makest me | dwell in | safety. ||
