Psalm 83
1 Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
1 Hold not thy tongue, O God, 3 keep | not still | silence: ||
re- 3 frain | not thy- | self, O | God. ||
2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
2 For lo, thine | enemies • make a | murmur•ing; ||
and they that | hate • thee have | 3 lift up their | head. ||
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
3 They have imagined craftily a- | gainst thy | people, ||
and taken | 3 counsel a- | gainst thy | secret • ones. ||
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
4 They have said, * Come, and let us root them out, that they be no | more a | people, ||
and that the name of Israel may | be no | more • in re- | membrance. ||
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
5 For they have cast their heads together with | one con- | sent, ||
3 and | are con- | feder•ate a- | gainst thee: ||
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
6 The tabernacles of the | Edomites, • and the | Ishmael•ites; ||
the | Moab- | ites, and | Haga•renes; ||
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
7 Gebal, and | Ammon, • and | Ama•lek; ||
the Philistines, with | them that | dwell at | Tyre. ||
8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
8 Assyria | 3 also is | joined • with them; ||
they have | 3 holpen the | 3 children of | Lot. ||
9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
9 But do thou to them as | 3 unto the | Midian•ites; ||
unto Sisera, and unto | Jabin • at the | brook of | Kishon; ||
10 Which perished at En-dor: they became as dung for the earth.
10 Who | 3 perished at | Endor, ||
and be- | came • as the | dung • of the | earth. ||
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
11 Make them and their princes like | Oreb • and | Zeëb; ||
yea, make all their princes like as | Zebah | and Zal- | munna; ||
12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
12 Who say, Let us | take • to our- | selves ||
the | 3 houses of | God • in pos- | session. ||
13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
13 O my God, make them | like unto • the whirling | dust, ||
3 and | as the | stubble be•fore the | wind; ||
14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
14 Like as the fire that | burneth • up the | forest, ||
and as the | 3 flame that con- | 3 sumeth the | mountains; ||
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
15 Pursue them even | so • with thy | tempest, ||
and | make • them a- | fraid • with thy | storm. ||
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.
16 Make their | 3 faces a- | shamed, O • Lord, ||
3 that | they may | seek thy | Name. ||
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
17 Let them be confounded and vexed ever | more and | more; ||
let them be | put to | shame, and | perish. ||
18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
18 And they shall know that thou, whose | Name • is JE- | HOVAH, ||
art only the Most | Highest • over | all the | earth. ||
