Psalm 75

1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks; * yea, unto | thee do • we give | thanks. ||
2 Thy Name also is so nigh; * and that do thy | wondrous | works de- | clare. ||
2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.
3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.
3 In the appointed time, saith God, I shall judge ac- | cording • unto | right. ||
4 The earth is weak, and all the inhabiters thereof: * | I bear | up the | pillars • of it. ||
4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.
5 I said unto the fools, 3 Deal | not so | madly; ||
and to the ungodly, | Set not | up your | horn. ||
6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
6 Set not up your | horn on | high, ||
and | speak not | with a • stiff | neck. ||
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
7 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, * nor | yet • from the | south. ||
8 And why? * God is the Judge; he putteth down | one, and | setteth • up an- | other. ||
8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.
9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
9 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the | wine is | red; ||
it is full mixt, and he | poureth | out • of the | same. ||
10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
10 3 As | for the | dregs there•of, ||
all the ungodly of the earth shall | drink • them, and | suck them | out. ||
11 But I will talk of the God of Jacob, and | praise • him for | ever. ||
12 All the horns of the ungodly also will I break, * and the horns of the | 3 righteous shall | be ex- | alted. ||

About the Pointing

The text of the Coverdale Psalter follows the 1928 American Book of Common Prayer. The pointing, suitably adapted, is taken from Charles Macpherson, Edward C. Bairstow, and Percy C. Buck, The English Psalter (Novello & Co., 1925).
