Psalm 6
1 O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
1 O Lord, rebuke me | not in thine • indig- | nation, ||
neither | chasten • me in | thy dis- | pleasure. ||
2 Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
2 Have mercy upon me, O | Lord, • for I am | weak; ||
O Lord, | heal me, • for my | bones are | vexed. ||
3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?
3 My soul | also is • sore | troubled: ||
but, | Lord, how | 3 long wilt thou | punish • me? ||
4 Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.
4 Turn thee, O Lord, and de- | 3 liver my | soul; ||
O | save me, | for thy | mercy's • sake. ||
5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
5 For in death | no • man re- | membereth • thee; ||
and | who will • give thee | thanks • in the | pit? ||
6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
6 I am weary of my groaning; * every night 3 wash | I my | bed, ||
and | 3 water my | couch • with my | tears. ||
7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
7 My beauty is | gone for • very | trouble, ||
and worn a- | way be•cause of | all mine | ene•mies. ||
8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.
8 Away from me, all | ye that • work | ini•quity; ||
for the Lord hath | heard the | 3 voice of my | weeping. ||
9 The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.
9 The Lord hath | heard • my pe- | tition; ||
the | Lord • will re- | ceive my | prayer. ||
10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
10 All mine enemies shall be con- | founded, and • sore | vexed; ||
they shall be turned | back, and • put to | shame | sudden•ly. ||
