Psalm 16
1 Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
1 Preserve me, O God; for in thee have I | put my | trust. ||
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, * Thou art my God; I have | no good | like • unto | thee. ||
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
3 All my delight is upon the | saints that are • in the | earth, ||
and upon | 3 such as ex- | cel in | virtue. ||
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
4 But they that run after another god shall have | great | trouble. ||
5 Their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, * neither make mention of their | names with- | in my | lips. ||
5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
6 The Lord himself is the portion of mine inheritance, 3 and | of my | cup; ||
3 thou | shalt main- | tain my | lot. ||
7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
7 The lot is fallen unto me in a | fair | ground; ||
yea, I | have a | goodly | heritage. ||
8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
8 I will thank the Lord for | 3 giving me | warning; ||
my reins also | 3 chasten me | in the | night • season. ||
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
9 I have set the Lord | 3 alway be- | fore me; ||
for he is on my right hand, | therefore • I | shall not | fall. ||
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
10 Wherefore my heart is glad, and my | glor•y re- | joiceth: ||
my flesh | 3 also shall | rest in | hope. ||
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
11 For why? * thou shalt not leave my | soul in | hell; ||
neither shalt thou suffer thy | Holy • One to | see cor- | ruption. ||
12 Thou shalt show me the path of life: * in thy presence is the | 3 fulness of | joy, ||
and at thy right hand there is | pleasure • for | ever- | more. ||
