Psalm 21
1 The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
1 The King shall rejoice in thy | strength, O | Lord; ||
exceeding | glad • shall he | be of • thy sal- | vation. ||
2 Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
2 Thou hast given him his | heart's de- | sire, ||
and hast not de- | nied him • the re- | 3 quest of his | lips. ||
3 For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
3 For thou shalt meet him with the | 3 blessings of | goodness, ||
and shalt set a | crown of • pure | gold up•on his | head. ||
4 He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.
4 He asked life of thee; and thou gavest him a long life, * even for | 3 ever and | ever. ||
5 His honour is great in thy salvation; * glory and great | worship | shalt thou | lay up•on him. ||
5 His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
6 For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.
6 For thou shalt give him ever- | 3 lasting fe- | lici•ty, ||
and make him | glad • with the | 3 joy of thy | counte•nance. ||
7 For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
7 And why? * because the King putteth his | trust • in the | Lord; ||
and in the mercy of the Most | Highest • he shall | not mis- | carry. ||
8 Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
8 All thine enemies shall | feel thine | hand; ||
thy right hand shall | find out | them that | hate thee. ||
9 Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
9 Thou shalt make them like a fiery oven in | 3 time of thy | wrath: ||
the Lord shall destroy them in his dis- | pleasure, • and the | fire • shall con- | sume them. ||
10 Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
10 Their fruit shalt thou root | 3 out of the | earth, ||
and their seed from a- | mong the | 3 children of | men. ||
11 For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
11 For they intended | 3 mischief a- | gainst thee, ||
and imagined such a device as they | are not | able • to per- | form. ||
12 Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.
12 Therefore shalt thou | 3 put them to | flight, ||
and the strings of thy bow shalt thou make | 3 ready a- | gainst the | face of • them. ||
13 Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.
13 Be thou exalted, Lord, 3 in | thine own | strength; ||
so will we | sing, and | praise thy | power. ||
