Psalm 106
1 Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
1 O give thanks unto the | Lord; for • he is | gracious, ||
and his | 3 mercy en- | 3 dureth for | ever. ||
2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? who can shew forth all his praise?
2 Who can express the noble | acts • of the | Lord, ||
or | show forth | all his | praise? ||
3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
3 Blessed are they that alway keep judgment, | and do | righteous•ness. ||
4 Remember me, O Lord, according to the favour that thou | bearest | 3 unto thy | people; ||
4 Remember me, O Lord, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
5 That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
O visit me with thy salvation; * 5 That I may see the fe- | licity • of thy | chosen, ||
and rejoice in the gladness of thy people, * and give | thanks with | thine in- | heri•tance. ||
6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
6 We have | sinned • with our | fathers; ||
we have | done a- | 3 miss, and dealt | wicked•ly. ||
7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
7 Our fathers regarded not thy wonders in Egypt, * neither kept they thy great | goodness • in re- | membrance; ||
but were disobedient at the | sea, | even • at the | Red Sea. ||
8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
8 Nevertheless, he | helped them • for his | Name's sake, ||
that he might | make his | power • to be | known. ||
9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
9 He rebuked the Red Sea also, and 3 it | was dried | up; ||
so he led them through the | deep, as | through a | wilder•ness. ||
10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
10 And he saved them from the | adver•sary's | hand, ||
and de- | livered them • from the | 3 hand of the | ene•my. ||
11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
11 As for those that troubled them, the waters overwhelmed them; * there was not | one of • them | left. ||
12 Then be- | 3 lieved they his | words, and • sang | praise unto • him. ||
12 Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
13 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
13 But within a while they for- | gat his | works, ||
and | 3 would not a- | bide his | counsel. ||
14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
14 But lust came up- | on them • in the | wilder•ness, ||
and they | tempted | God • in the | desert. ||
15 And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
15 And he | gave them • their de- | sire, ||
and sent | lean•ness with- | al in•to their | soul. ||
16 They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the Lord.
16 They angered Moses | also • in the | tents, ||
and | 3 Aaron the | saint • of the | Lord. ||
17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
17 So the earth opened, and | 3 swallowed up | Dathan, ||
and | covered the • congre- | gation • of A- | biram. ||
18 And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
18 And the fire was | kindled • in their | compa•ny; ||
the | flame burnt | up • the un- | godly. ||
19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the | molten | image. ||
20 Thus they turned their glory into the similitude of a | calf that | eateth | hay. ||
20 Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
21 They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
21 And they forgat God their Saviour, who had done so | great • things in | Egypt; ||
22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham; and | fearful • things | by the • Red | Sea. ||
22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
23 So he said he would have destroyed them, * had not Moses his chosen stood be- | fore him • in the | gap, ||
to turn away his wrathful indig- | nation, | lest he • should de- | stroy them. ||
24 Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
24 Yea, they thought scorn of that pleasant land, and gave no credence | 3 unto his | word; ||
25 But murmured in their tents, * and hearkened not | 3 unto the | voice • of the | Lord. ||
25 But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord.
26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
26 Then lift he up his hand against them, to over- | throw them • in the | wilder•ness; ||
27 To cast out their seed among the nations, and to | scatter • them | in the | lands. ||
27 To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.
28 They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
28 They joined themselves unto | Baal- | peor, ||
and | ate the | offerings • of the | dead. ||
29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their | own in- | ventions; ||
and the | plague was | great a- | mong them. ||
30 Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
30 Then stood up Phinehas, and interposed; and | so the • plague | ceased. ||
31 And that was counted unto him for righteousness, among all pos- | teri•ties for | ever- | more. ||
31 And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
32 They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
32 They angered him also at the | 3 waters of | strife, ||
so that he punished | Moses | for their | sakes; ||
33 Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
33 Because they pro- | voked his | spirit, ||
so that he spake unad- | 3 visedly | with his | lips. ||
34 They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the Lord commanded them:
34 Neither destroyed they the heathen, as the | Lord com- | manded • them; ||
35 But were mingled among the | heathen, • and | learned their | works. ||
35 But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
36 Insomuch that they worshipped their idols, which be- | came a | snare • unto them; ||
yea, they offered their | sons • and their | daughters • unto | devils; ||
37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
37 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their | sons and • of their | daughters, ||
whom they offered unto the idols of Canaan; * and the | land • was de- | filed with | blood. ||
38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
38 Thus were they stained with their own works, * and went a whoring with their | own in- | ventions. ||
39 Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, * insomuch that he ab- | horred his | own in- | heri•tance. ||
39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
40 Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
40 And he gave them over into the hand of the heathen; * and they that | hated • them were | lords • over them. ||
41 Their enemies op- | pressed • them, and | had them • in sub- | jection. ||
41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
42 Many a time 3 did | he de- | liver • them; ||
but they rebelled against him with their own inventions, * 3 and | were brought | down • in their | wicked•ness. ||
43 Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
43 Nevertheless, when he saw their adversity, he | heard • their com- | plaint. ||
44 He | thought up•on his | cove•nant, and | pitied • them, ||
44 Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
according unto the | multitude • of his | mercies; ||
yea, he made all those that | led them a•way | 3 captive to | pity • them. ||
45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
45 Deliver us, O Lord our God, and gather us from a- | mong the | heathen; ||
that we may give thanks unto thy holy Name, * and | make our | 3 boast of thy | praise. ||
46 He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
46 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, from everlasting, and | world with•out | end; ||
And let all the | people | say, A- | men. ||
47 Save us, O Lord our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
48 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the Lord.
